Kinmen County Government established the 2016 Empty House Revitalization Rent Subsidy Project to implement the Action Plan for Kinmen Young Entrepreneurs to Start Businesses in their Hometown, which encourages the youth to return to their hometown and revitalize old streets and empty houses that are traditional architecture. Jinsha Township Folk Culture Village and Yangdi Old Street were selected as trial locations this year with a total subsidy of NT$1 million. If the results of the trial this year are good, the project will be expanded next year.
The county government indicated that R.O.C. citizens in the ages 20-45 may submit their application if they intend to start a business in the two abovementioned locations. Once the business plan is approved by the county government, the applicant’s store rent for the first 3 years starting on the month it opens for business and gains a business registration will be subsidized. Applicants that have registered their permanent address in Kinmen County for at least 3 years (based on the date of application) will be fully subsidized for the first 2 years and half of subsidies for the third year. If the applicant had not registered his/her permanent address in Kinmen County for three years (based on the date of application), then the first year’s rent will be fully subsidized, and rent for years 2-3 will be half subsidized; monthly rent subsidy is limited to NT$20,000 and half is limited to NT$10,000.
Subsidy applications will be accepted from June 1st to 30th, 2016. The number of applications accepted will be based on committee review results and the budget. Young entrepreneurs interested in starting a business are welcome to use this opportunity and submit their applications. The county government will also provide guidance information in hopes of introducing business plans that are creative, special, or have development potential, and thereby attract consumers to form a business cluster with more diverse commercial, service, and entertainment functions, which will drive the development of local industries.
