The 60th Anniversary Concert of Second Taiwan Strait Crisis, which featured classical Chinese music, was hosted last night at the Performance Hall of the Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County following the performance at the Sinshih Village basketball ground on August 17th. Taiwan Chinese Orchestra brought to the audience an exquisite music feast, regaling the crowd with thoroughly delightful sound.

Last evening chief secretory of Kinmen County Government, Mr. Lin De-Gong, accompanied by the director of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Mr. Lu Kun-He, and Jincheng Township mayor, Mr. Shih Jhao-Min, along with the chairlady of Taiwan Chinese Orchestra, Ms. Liou Li-Jhen, arrived at the venue to enjoy the spectacular performance of Taiwan Chinese Orchestra with the crowd.

Chief secretory Lin, who was representing county magistrate Chen Fu-Hai, expressed his welcome to Taiwan Chinese Orchestra and thanked the members for bringing them a spectacular performance. He also hoped that Taiwan Chinese Orchestra would take this opportunity to bond with Kinmen Chinese Orchestra. Cultural events will only prosper in Kinmen with the support of everyone.

The performance took place at 19:30 yesterday at the Performance Hall of the Cultural Affairs Bureau. It started with traditional Taiwanese rhythm “Wind Lion Hometown Sensation”. Under the lead of conductor Mr. Huang Guang-You, professional musicians Ms. Liou Jhen-Lin (flute), Ms. Wang Siou-Jhen (pipa), Ms. Yorika Kimura (piano), and Ms. Syu Siao-Yuan (dulcimer) (a local who recently graduated from Chinese Culture University Department of Music) interpreted several songs from TV series and other epic songs including “Blue Kavulungan Mountain”, “Hometown Sensation”, “Listen” and “Hope of the Future”.

The 60th Anniversary Concert of Second Taiwan Strait Crisis started touring in five townships on August 12th. The concert was held in Jinsha Township on August 12th, in Jinning Township on August 13th, and at the Sinshih Village basketball ground in Jinhu Township on August 17th. Under the guidance of conductor Chen Syuan-He, Taiwan Chinese Orchestra performed a great variety of songs from the 90’s to present day. From popular Taiwanese songs in the 90’s: “Words After Drinking”, “Wandering to Danshui”, “Forever Young”, “I will”, “Blue and White Porcelain”, and “Nine Hundred Ninety-Nine Roses”, to classical Taiwanese folk songs such as “Song of the Fisherman”, “Clinking Coins”, “Craving for the Spring Breeze”, and “High Green Mountain”, and to the theme song of Disney 2013 animation Frozen “Let it go”, their masterful performance regaled the crowd with thoroughly delightful sound.

Kinmen County Cultural Affairs Bureau stated that Taiwan Chinese Orchestra is a national orchestra formed under the guidance of the Ministry of Culture and subordinate to the National Center for Traditional Arts. It consists of elites in the Chinese music field in Taiwan who hope that their innovative work will provide a foundation for traditional Taiwanese music and that their performances can express the aesthetics of Taiwanese people. They endeavor to elevate the standards of Taiwanese traditional and contemporary music, and to show the world the beauty of Taiwanese culture through charming music. In recent years, they have been promoting three concepts: “Telling the most beautiful Taiwanese stories with Chinese music”, “Utilizing local resources and talents” and “To link Taiwan with the world via music”, with which they have created the spirit of Taiwan Chinese Orchestra.
