Chen Fu-Hai Awards the Winners of Kinmen Marathon

This year is the ninth Kinmen Marathon and runners from around the world have all come to compete. Noris Kipkemboi Biwott from Kenya won the men’s marathon with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 38 seconds. The winner of the women’s marathon was also from Kenya, Emily Chepkemoi Samoei with a time of 2 hours 37 minutes and 11 seconds (Prize of NT$100,000) and also broke the record of Kinmen Marathon (NT$10,000). Ho Chin-Ping won the men’s half marathon for the third consecutive time with a time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 39 seconds; the women’s half marathon was won by You Ya-Chun with a time of 1 hour 21 minutes and 48 seconds. Magistrate Chen Fu-Hai also awarded the winners of other divisions.
Kinmen Marathon is known as the heaven for first-time marathon runners and increased the time limit to 7 hours, so that runners can slowly complete their first marathon on the route of Kinmen without any time pressure. Only 1,800 runners were accepted for the full marathon; 2,500 runners were accepted for the half marathon, so all 4,300 runners were lucky to get in.
The weather in Kinmen was cool yesterday morning, and 5,000 full marathon runners set out after Magistrate Chen and Council Speaker Hung Li-Ping fired the starting gun. The runners passed through 8 scenic spots elaborately arranged by the committee, including guns and artillery sound effects in Jincheng Tunnel, guns and artillery sound effects and camouflage of tanks at Cihu embankment, and Teng Li-Chun songs at Que Mountain training field, allowing runners to experience the past battlefield in Kinmen and listen to the beautiful voice of Teng Li-Chun.
Finally, in the men’s full marathon, Noris Kipkemboi Biwott came in first with a time of 2 hours 18 minutes and 38 seconds, followed by Josphat Jepkopol Kamzee with a time of 2 hours 34 minutes and 38 seconds. Su Chih-Pin came in third, Lin Tse-Hsien came in fourth, Yeh Wei came in fifth, Huang Chen-Chou came in sixth, Wang Tzu-Ming came in seventh, Lu Wei-Chien came in eighth, Ho Chin-Wen came in ninth, and Wu Wei-Teng came in tenth.
In the women’s full marathon, Emily Chepkemoi Samoei came in first, Nancy Joan Rotich came in second, Sun Wei-Wei came in third, Lin Yu-Hsin came in fourth, Hung Ching-Ting came in fifth, Lai Su-Hung came in sixth, Hsu Ya-Hung came in seventh, Chu Chin-Feng came in eighth, Hung Hsiao-Ting came in ninth, and Yeh Kai-Wen came in tenth.
In the men’s half marathon, Ho Ching-Ping came in first with a time of 1 hour 10 minutes and 39 seconds, Wen Lien-Chung came in second, Yang Yung-Chun came in third, Huang Wen-Liang came in fourth, Yang Shang-Chih came in fifth, Ku Chien-Hung came in sixth, Tsai Cheng-Hsuan came in seventh, Hsu Chung-Hsiung came in eighth, Lin Feng-Sheng came in ninth, and Yang Hung-Shun came in tenth.
In the women’s half marathon, You Ya-Chun came in first with a time of 1 hour 21 minutes and 48 seconds, Li Wei-Wei came in second, Su Feng-Ting came in third, Chen Yu-Jui came in fourth, Yu Ting-Lu came in fifth, Lin Pei-Yi came in sixth, Chen Shan-Mei came in seventh, Fan Yun-Ju came in eighth, Lin Yang-Chin came in ninth, and Yang Pei-Chieh came in tenth.
In the women’s 11.2km race, Lin Mei-Ling came in first, Kuo Fang-Ju came in second, Tu Chih-Yun came in third, Ho Li-Fen came in fourth, Lai Wei-Lin came in fifth, Huang Ming-Pin came in sixth, Kao Hao-Yun came in seventh, Chang Hui-Chen came in eighth, Ma Yin-Lan came in ninth, and Chou Pei-Hua came in tenth.
In the men’s 11.2km race, Chen Wei-Jung came in first, Hung Wei-Hsiang came in second, Chang Kai-Chieh came in third, Huang Chia-Wei came in fourth, Weng Jui-Chun came in fifth, Ho Chia-Long came in sixth, Hung Wei-Hua came in seventh, Wang Cheng-Chieh came in eighth, Lin Yi-Fan came in ninth, and Huang Cheng-Yu came in tenth.
