To encourage students whose permanent residences are registered in Kinmen to study abroad for a broadened international vision and increased competitiveness, Kinmen County Government set up the Guidelines for Kinmen County Government Scholarships to Study Abroad; applications for the 2017 scholarships are now open till October 15th. For master programs and doctoral programs, NT$80,000 and NT$160,000 per student are granted respectively. The scholarships will be granted to 25 master’s students and ten doctoral students every year.

The following documents should be submitted to Kinmen County Government while applying for the scholarships: (1) application form; (2) affidavit (certifying that such information as the school which the applicant attends, the full-time status, and the documents and written translations attached are true); (3) diplomas and academic results of junior and senior high schools; (4) household certificate; (5) copy of student ID card (upon enrollment, both sides); (6) copy of national ID card; (7) copy of the student’s passport; (8) copy of the student’s passbook cover; (9) record of entry and exit issued by the competent authority during overseas study; and (10) proof of admission to the master/doctoral program of a foreign university/college recognized by the Ministry of Education and proof of enrollment (such documents should be translated into Chinese and certified by the embassies, consulates, representative offices and economic and cultural offices of the Republic of China or other overseas institutions authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs).
The deadline of the 2017 scholarships applications is October 15th. If the number of eligible applicants exceeds the given quota, priority will be given based on the duration of overseas study. When the duration of study is the same, the review board will make a final decision. An applicant is allowed to submit an application once during his/her study. Those who have obtained approval for their applications are not allowed to apply again.
After reviewing the applications for scholarships, Kinmen County Government will announce the list of qualified applicants and remit the scholarships to the bank account provided by the qualified applicants. A wrap-up presentation where qualified applicants share experience will be held by Kinmen County Government every year to encourage students whose permanent residences are registered in Kinmen to study abroad. Qualified applicants are required to provide the data for experience sharing and attend the presentation. Those who cannot attend the presentation in person should appoint a representative to attend.
