Kinmen Water Plant celebrated the annual 1117 Tap Water Festival yesterday by holding a luncheon and all the water plant staff gathered together for the celebration. County Chief Secretary Lin De-Gong, on behalf of County Magistrate Chen Fu-Hai, came to offer gratitude to the hard work of the water plant staff. Lin thanked the staffs for their dedication on their job—their expertise, responsibility and passion. The water quality in Kinmen will become better and better under the teamwork of the staff, said Lin.

The celebration luncheon was hosted by Syu Jheng-Fang, the director of Kinmen Water Plant, at Ying Chun Ge Restaurant. Dignitaries including Lin De-Gong, County Chief Secretary; Wong Ming-Jhih, Secretary-general of Provincial Government; Li Zeng-Cai, Secretary-general of County Council; Hong Yun-Dian and Li Cheng-Jhih, county councilors; Syu Kuan, Executive Officer; Cai Ci-Chao, Jinsha Township Mayor; Huang Ke-Biao, Director of Kinmen Stadium; Syu Ji-Sin, Director of Maintenance and Repair Office, and Lu Gen Jhen, Director of Cultural Parks Management Office arrived at the venue to congratulate the achievement of the water plant and they were greeted enthusiastically by Director Syu and all the staff.

County Chief Secretary Lin De-Gong, on behalf of the County Magistrate Chen Fu-Hai, expressed appreciation from the county government for the hard work of the water plant team, and wished everyone a happy festival. Water, air and sunshine are the three essential elements to life, said Lin; and it was obvious that the water plant staff bears huge responsibility. Water and electricity are the foundation of regional development; without them, it is impossible to develop infrastructure. Lin expressed the sincerest thanks to the staffs who have been working with their expertise and passion, and who are fully involved in and dedicated to their tasks. Regarding their expectation of promotion or wage increase, Lin affirmed that he would refer it to Magistrate Chen and may review and devise relevant policies with competent authorities.

Lin also pointed out that the water levels in the reservoirs are getting lower and lower; thus, it is necessary to accelerate the construction of a water supply connection with China. It is hoped that the water supply construction can be completed next year to ensure sufficient water supply in Kinmen. The water quality will become better and better under the hard work of all the staff at Kinmen Water Plant. He also thanked Public Works Department for the planning and execution of water supply connection with China.

Director Syu stressed the importance of water resources development, water quality treatment, and reduction of leakage rate. It is an unavoidable responsibility for the water plant to provide all citizens and soldiers with not only water but good water.
