The fourteenth performance of the 2017 QUEMOY International Music Festival took place last night (August 19th). The closing performance was given by the Atayal singer, Canace, accompanied by Connie, KristinHsiao, and C. Jan. The performance received grand applause from the audience. Throughout the day, a total of 1,500 visitors came to Houhu Seashore Park, many of whom were tourists from Taiwan, mainland China and all around the world. It seemed that Houhu Seashore Park, with its island charm, has become a new tourist hotspot in Kinmen.
Today (August 20th) from 6 to 9 p.m., the finals for the music awards will take place on the same stage. Six well-qualified independent bands will compete against one another. All visitors are sincerely invited to come to the show tonight with friends, and to enjoy a beautiful evening filled with music.
The leading artist last night, Canace, is from the Atayal tribe. Her tribal name is Jiwasi Dulan. Canace is the daughter of Turay Watan, a renowned singer in an aboriginal band. She made her debut in 2003 and has released 6 albums so far, with numerous contest awards under her belt. Her most iconic piece is the ending song for the TV series, Empresses in the Palace. The accompanying artist, Connie, made her debut in 2007 with her own original album. She was nominated for the Best New Artist Award of the 19th Golden Melody Award for the EP with 4 tracks in total. By 2010, she released her second and third albums, the latter being a self-titled album. On March 31st, 2017, she released her newest original album, All About The Coming Wonderful Things, with unrestrained creativity and a folk song style that is conservative yet wild at the same time.
The finals will take place tonight (August 20th). All the finalists are powerhouse independent bands. The contest will be held between 6 and 9 p.m. The host will randomly give out specialty products and souvenirs provided by the Kinmen Tourism Specialty Association and Kinmen Kaoliang Liquor Inc.
In order to encourage participation of tourists and students in the QUEMOY International Music Festival, the organizer has scheduled shuttle buses that run between the Houhu event site and the following two stations: Jincheng and Shanwai, on August 20th and 26th for the weekend events. Between 3 p.m. and 9:30 p.m., the buses would depart from Jincheng and Shanwai stations every hour on the hour, and from the parking lot of the Houhu Seashore Park every hour on the half hour. The last bus departs from Houhu Seashore Park, heading to Jincheng and Shanwai stations at 9:30 p.m. The shuttle bus service is provided to local residents and tourists alike.
In addition to the beautiful music, the blue seashore with soft sands by the event site attracts adults and children each day. The parasols and the beach chairs scattered around the beach offer a cozy feeling on a hot summer’s day. As the night approaches and the show begins, the food stands and game booths gain popularity among the tourists. The Kinmen County Government would like to remind local residents and tourists to Houhu Seashore Park to slow down upon entering Donghu Rd. and to follow the guidance of on-site police officers for orderly traffic and safety. Everyone is cordially invited to come to Houhu Seashore Park to enjoy the nice summer anytime during the summer vacation.
